In this lesson we discuss:

PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management. There are 7 processes that are compatible with the Core Principles and guide you through the project. Each process provides a set of activities. These activities help to direct, manage and deliver a project, and are described in the PRINCE2 manual. Like any process, a PRINCE2 process takes one or more inputs, acts on them, and provides defined outputs.

At the end of this lesson you will be expected to explain the purpose of the following:

  • Starting up a project, including the purpose of the project brief,
  • Directing a project, including the purpose of the project initiation documentation (PID),
  • Initiating a project,
  • Controlling a stage,
  • Managing product delivery,
  • Managing a stage boundary,
  • Closing a project.

You should also be able to describe the following:

  • Explain the objectives of the PRINCE2 processes (as above, excluding the PID and project brief)
  • Explain the context of the PRINCE2 processes (as above, excluding the PID and project brief)
